Pakuranga Plaza Foodcourt

Location: Pakuranga Highway, Pakuranga, Auckland.

Completion: May 2003

Value: $550,000

The central foodcourt, nine food outlet tenancies and restaurants are air conditioned by separate packaged roof mounted AHUs with a separate fresh air supply fan serving the outlets to compensate for the kitchen hood exhaust. A kitchen exhaust fan serves each of the nine food outlets together with a common toilet exhaust system. The seperate retail shops are air conditioned by individual roof mounted packaged AHUs.

The project required intricate duct design and draughting as the riser ducts to the roof were double offset through the three dimensional lattice roof structure. All new systems controls were integrated into the shopping mall BMS software system.

The Project:

The shopping mall complex was refurbished to provide a new central foodcourt within the centre of the existing complex by retaining the existing roof and structural lattice steel support structure. New foodcourt outlet tenancies and two independent restaurants were built together with two adjacent additional retail tenancies.
